Microbiology is the study of the role of microorganisms in plant, human and animal disease and the ways to prevent and cure them. It is a field of applied biology and chemistry, appropriate for students primarily interested in the delivery of health services. Microbiologist, also referred to as clinical laboratory scientist, is the detective of health care world. Using analytical techniques he searches for clues both to add in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and to help patient stay healthy.

Scope: Microbiologists are in great demand both in medical and non-medical related field of study and work. They have an option of pursuing higher studies for specialization or they can seek employment in. :- Pathology laboratories :- Pharmaceutical industries :- Biotechnology industries :- Beverages industries :- Research areas etc. This discipline also generates self-employment therefore private microbiology labs can also be set up after post gradation.
Eligibility: 10+2 (C.B.) with min. 50%.
Subjects: Subjects taught in B.M.M include Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Medical Laboratory Techniques with Biostatistics, Basic Physics, Instrumentation, General Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, Clinical Pathology, Principles of Blood Transfusion, Medical Parasitology and Entomology, Immunohaematologgy, Systemic Bacteriology, Immunology, Virology, Medical Mycology.
Duration: 3 Yrs. Leading to B.Sc. Medical Microbiology degree.
